Rapper Silento has been arrested and charged with murder in the death of his cousin last month, authorities said. The artist, whose real name is Ricky Lamar Hawk, was arrested after police investigated a deadly shooting in the city on Jan. 21 that killed his cousin Frederick Rooks in the Panthersville area, just a few miles southeast of downtown Atlanta. According to jail records, Silento was ordered held without bond.
A native of Stone Mountain, Ga., Silento rose to prominence when his debut single, “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae),” led to a viral dance in 2015. He was arrested in California last year on unrelated domestic violence and gun charges.
